Evaluation Question on Audience Feedback

What has your role been in the filming process and what did you do differently in the first and second draft?

My role within the Film was both consisting of Camera work and Editing as evident throughout my Blog. For the Camera work aspect, I ensured that the camera work from the first draft to the second is consistently even more stabilised and sustained throughout the movie by smoothing out any rough shakes or motion blurs. Lastly for the camera work aspect, I ensured that from the first draft to second, the conversation aspect using the 180 degrees wasn't broken. Furthermore, for the editing aspect of the movie, from the first draft to the second, I ensured that colour grading aspect was clear and not light as compared to the first draft as theoretically it was light and within a horror movie, the conventions consist of being dark. This was adjusted by colour grading the film in post-production of being darkened.

How do you plan to make changes to the final draft of your film?

After receiving critical feedback from the premier night, I will take up the improvement suggested to make the final draft/version of the film pristine. Improvements will be listed such as changing the scream which will be done by redrafting the sound of the scream and implementing a new one. More showcase of the antagonist by ensuring more scenes include the antagonist. Furthermore, the quality of the tape sound will be improved by making it less distorted and allowing easier understanding. Lastly, I will take upon the recommendations of the audience by both characters entering the house towards the end as prior only one of the characters go back to the house.

Audience Feedback of the Horror Movie.

On Wednesday the 28th of February we had a premier night of our Horror movie which was showcased to around 20 individuals acting as the audience. After the film was watched, We ensured to have questionnaires ready containing 5 questions for around 10 of the audience members to answer.

1. The first question asked was
How did the title affect your understanding of the film?

·         The response we gathered from the first question was
·         The title does make sense as it is easily acknowledged that the title resembles back to the tape and if played, the antagonist will have arrived.
·         The title is easily acknowledgeable to be linked to the film
·         It didn’t affect my understanding, it allowed me to anticipate more of what was happening

OverallThe response gathered for the first question was positive and ensured that the title provided a good aspect of courage to the film itself.

2. The second question asked was
Throughout the Duration of the Movie were there enough jump scares?

The response gathered from the second question was
·         Yes, there was enough jump scares in the movie.

Overall

Due to the this being a closed ended question, the analysis will be simplified by simply assuming that there was a vast range of good jump scares within the movie.

3. The third question asked was
How did the film make you feel?

The response we gathered from the third question was
·         The film was scary
·         Feel worried for the main character
·         Feel Sympathetic for the main character
·         Uneasy due to the eerie music
·         Apprehensive

Overall
The data gathered from this question suggests that generally, the film made the audience feel anxious about what will happen next, feeling of scared and also worried for the main character.

4. The fourth question asked was

What do you think of the open ending?

The response we gathered from the fourth question was
·         Looking forward to the next episode
·         Seems unfinished
·         An effective cliff hangar
·         Provides scope for a squeal.

Overall
· The audience’s feedback was quite contrapuntal as the open ending leads to a the next episode or cliff hanger effect which one member didn’t understand as they said it seems unfinished. However, generally, the data collected is fairly positive for the open ending.

5. The Fifth question asked was
Is there anything you would do to improve the movie?

Overall Recommendations and responses
·         Change the Scream
·         Make the ending more unique
·         More showcasing of the antagonist
·         The quality of the sound clip of the tape was too static
·         Both of the characters/friends should’ve gone back to the house.
